Viral diagnosis in acute respiratory infections using the indirect immunofluorescence technique.

چکیده
From September 1984 to February 1985 a total of three hundred and five specimens of nasopharyngeal secretion (NPS) were examined by the indirect immuno-fluorescence technique to determine the frequency of infections caused by the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenza A, influenza B and parainfluenza viruses, 1 and 3. The specimens were collected from infants and children less than 5 years of age visiting the hospital with acute respiratory infections. Standardized techniques and quality controlled reagents were used. At least one of the above viruses was detected in 70 specimens (23.0%); RSV in 50, influenza A in 7, influenza B in4, parainfluenza type 1 in 3 and parainfluenza type 3 in 6 specimens (JPMA 37: 280 , 1987).

Viral aetiology of acute respiratory infections in children in north India.
Two hundred and thirty children clinically diagnosed as suffering from acute respiratory infection were tested for four major groups of viral aetiological agents, i.e. influenza para-influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and adenoviruses using indirect immunofluorescence technique. At least one of the respiratory viruses was identified in 51 (22 per cent) specimens, which included influe...
متن کاملRapid antigen detection test for respiratory syncytial virus diagnosis as a diagnostic tool.
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate the QuickVue® RSV Test Kit (QUIDEL Corp, CA, USA) as a screening tool for respiratory syncytial virus in children with acute respiratory disease in comparison with the indirect immunofluorescence assay as gold standard. In Brazil, rapid antigen detection tests for respiratory syncytial virus are not routinely utilized as a diagnostic tool, except ...
متن کاملSerological study of bovine viral respiratory diseases in dairy herds in Kerman province, Iran
Respiratory disorders are major concern for dairy cattle industry. Viruses and bacteria in combinationwith stress play a key role in triggering acute respiratory infections. The most important viral agents arebovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV), bovine herpes virus type 1 (BHV-1), bovine respiratory syncytial virus(BRSV), parainfluenza virus type 3 (PIV-3) and bovine adenovirus (BAV). This cros...
متن کاملDetection of respiratory viruses by real-time polymerase chain reaction in outpatients with acute respiratory infection
Viruses are the major contributors to the morbidity and mortality of upper and lower acute respiratory infections (ARIs) for all age groups. The aim of this study was to determine the frequencies for a large range of respiratory viruses using a sensitive molecular detection technique in specimens from outpatients of all ages with ARIs. Nasopharyngeal aspirates were obtained from 162 individuals...

Diploid and continuous cell lines are used to propagate viral vaccines. At Human Viral Vaccine Department of Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute, MRC5 diploid cell is used for the development of live attenuated measles, mumps, rubella, and three types of poliovirus vaccines. Additionally, three continuous cell lines (i.e., RK13, HeLa, and Vero) are applied in quality control tests. Accor...
